Thomas Salmon, whose prose were often purple and who some referred to as "Mr. Malaprop", regularly provided some interesting twists on the English language. My memory may be a bit fuzzy about the exact circumstances of this example, but I believe it was in his statement announcing for reelection as Governor. He described his goals going forward as a tripod, stipulating the significance of each leg, and he concluded this metaphor by saying, "... and the fourth leg of this tripod is...." 'Ya gotta love it!
