It is a sad day, indeed, when Vermont's income-insensitivity to the wealthy forces a fine citizen like Glen Wright to choose between his northern and southern estates. We will have to live with the knowledge that Florida embraces Wright's most deeply-held values in a way that Vermont doesn't.

Oh, well, I think we'll manage.

Small correction: a 0-to-531 increase in $ million earners is a 53,100 percent increase - not 531%. Small base numbers provide even more fun with percentages than you thought!

Is this the same Glen Wright that served on the VT Economic Progress Council (VEPC)?
If so, he should know that VT taxes might be a bit lower had he not participated in a $100 million corporate welfare scheme (called "tax incentives" by some). He would say the program is a net winner but there is simply no good evidence to support that (and lots of reasons to doubt it).

Moreover, Mr. Wright's move to Florida may have nothing to do with taxes. Many northerners of varying incomes retire to Florida at retirement. And for those with horse farms near Ocala (where George Steinbrenner also has a place) are not likely to get much sympathy.
